Glazzz is a wine app: you scan bottles and wine lists, react honestly, and we learn your palate so we can recommend wines you'll actually love — and let you share your taste with the people who buy wine for you. This page explains exactly what we collect and why, in plain language.
What we collect
Account: your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider — we never see it). Until you create an account you use Glazzz under an anonymous ID.
Wine activity: the wines you scan, the wine lists you photograph, your reactions (loved → nope), where you noted you tasted a wine, and the taste profile (your “Taste Bud”) we compute from them.
Photos: label and wine-list photos you take are uploaded so our AI can read them, and kept so your cellar can show them. Each photo gets a random, unguessable address; anyone who has that exact link can open the image, so don't photograph anything private.
Location — only what you choose: the country and city you pick in the app, used for local availability and pairing suggestions. If you tap “use my location”, your browser asks your permission first; we round your position to roughly 1 km and send it to a geocoding service only to look up your city name. We keep the city, not your coordinates, and never track you in the background.
Feedback: whatever you send through the feedback button, including any photos or screenshots you attach, plus your app version and platform.
Payments: if you subscribe to Premium, Stripe handles your card. We never see or store card numbers; we keep your plan, its status and renewal date, and Stripe's customer reference.
Technical and security basics: app build and platform, a short-lived count of AI requests per account (kept a few days, to stop abuse), and the standard request logs our hosting providers keep (such as IP address) to run and protect the service.
How we use it — and on what legal basis
To run Glazzz (performing our contract with you): building your taste profile, match scores, recommendations, pairings and your cellar.
AI processing: photos, wine lists and a summary of your taste are sent to Anthropic's Claude models through our secure backend to read labels and write suggestions. See How we use AI for the details. Your data is not used to train AI models.
Sharing you control: if you share your Taste Bud, anyone with your link can see it — never your email. You can stop sharing at any time in the app.
Aggregated wine intelligence (our legitimate interest): we compile anonymized, aggregate statistics about wines — how often a wine is scanned, how loved it is, typical wine-list prices, regional taste trends. These aggregates never contain your identity, email or individual history, and we may use or share them commercially (for example, insights for wine retailers). Your personal data is never sold.
Email you expect: account emails (like password resets) and, for founding members, occasional product updates. No spam, ever.
Who we work with
Each of these providers processes data only to deliver their service to us:
Supabase — database, authentication and photo storage, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
Vercel — hosts the app and website, and counts visits anonymously without cookies (Vercel Web Analytics).
Anthropic — the Claude AI models that read labels and write recommendations.
Resend — sends account emails and delivers feedback to us.
Stripe — processes Premium payments.
Open-Meteo — receives the city you chose (no personal details) to add the weather to food pairings.
BigDataCloud — turns your rounded position into a city name, only when you tap “use my location”.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the EU, it is protected by the safeguards those providers offer under EU law, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. Delete your account any time from inside the app: Profile → Delete my account. This permanently removes your account, taste profile, scans, photos, ratings, badges and feedback straight away, and cancels any active Premium subscription. It cannot be undone.
If you'd rather we did it for you, email hello@glazzz.wine from your account email with the subject “Delete my Glazzz account” and we will delete everything within 30 days. Already-published anonymized aggregates (which never identify you) can't be reversed. Payment records Stripe must keep by law stay with Stripe.
Cookies
Glazzz uses no cookies and no advertising trackers — only a few necessary items stored on your device, plus anonymous, cookie-free visit counts. See the Cookie policy.
Age
Glazzz is about wine. It is only for people of legal drinking age where they live. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Your rights (GDPR)
The data controller is Maria-Ines Design Studio, doing business as Envisioned (the Netherlands). You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw any consent you gave — email hello@glazzz.wine. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in the EU/EEA country where you live.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update it here with a new effective date and flag it in the app.
